Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, yesterday carried out final inspection on the Abuja – Kaduna railway as he declared the project ready for commissioning by President Buhari on July 26th.
Amaechi, who was accompanied by the chairman of APC John Odigie-Oyegun, also said that he sought the opinion of passengers before fixing the fare on N500 for Economy.
“We are ready to go. From the things we have seen, we are set to go. This test run exercise has been on for over a month.
“We said it was going to run for two weeks but we allowed it for six weeks so that everybody can use it.”
According to him, the trains will be open for business immediately after the commissioning.
“We are targeting that from Tuesday after the president must have flagged off the Abuja-Kaduna rail, we will then begin to charge passengers.”
